A 48 person CNC machine shop in Huntersville, North Carolina. Tier 2 and Tier 3 supplier to automotive primes and the OEMs behind them. Production runs that ship clean and on time.
Robert Bechtel founded Colver in April 2019. He spent 12 years on the floor and 6 in operations management at a Tier 1 automotive supplier in Greer, South Carolina before opening the shop. He had a clear picture of what he did not want to build. Standard work was baked in from day one.
We started with 2 Haas VF-4s and a CNC lathe in 4,000 square feet off Statesville Road. Five years on, we run 14 CNC machines in 18,000 square feet at the Huntersville Business Park. The 5 axis cell is anchored by a DMG MORI DMU 50 we brought in this spring.
Most of our growth came from existing customers asking us to take on more parts. We are not chasing every RFQ that lands in the inbox. We grow when the work fits the shop and the customer is in it for more than 1 job.
Production CNC work, mostly for Tier 2 and Tier 3 automotive suppliers. Prototype runs when they lead to a production program. Not a prototype only shop.
3 axis production milling on Haas VF-4, VF-2SS, and Hurco VM20i. Aluminum, pre hard 4140, 17-4PH stainless, and titanium when the job calls for it. Tombstone and pallet changer setups for repeat work.
Single setup machining on the Haas UMC-750 and DMG MORI DMU 50. Reduces stack up tolerance from multi op routings. Gets complex housings, manifolds, and brackets out the door faster.
Mazak QTN-250M with Y axis and live tooling. Two Haas ST-30 lathes and an ST-10 with sub spindle. Bar fed production for shafts, fittings, bushings, and hex driven parts up to 12 inches diameter.
Roughly 70% of our revenue is automotive Tier 2 and Tier 3. The rest splits across hydraulics, industrial OEMs, and a handful of robotics customers in the Carolinas.
We asked our top accounts what kept them with us. Here is what they said.
Once a program runs and the price is set, we do not come back 2 months later asking for a setup uplift. Estimating sits with the people who quote. They own the result.
We run the FAIR before the PPAP submission, not after. CMM data is in your hands the same week the parts ship. If something is out, we tell you before the truck leaves.
Sales, scheduling, quality, and shipping are all in 1 building. Your purchase order does not enter a queue and disappear. Will Duggan reads every release. Sam Pierson runs the quote desk.
ISO 9001 certified since 2021. IATF 16949 Stage 2 audit on the calendar Q1 2026. Material certs traceable to the mill, retained 7 years. Process FMEA on every PPAP level part.
Send us the drawing and the annual quantity. We come back inside 2 business days on routine prints.
